Free Walking Tours of New York City

Starting this summer (June), there is a group of young (and young at heart), fun loving guides who have come together for a common cause: To teach history and entertain guests with creative tours of NYC.  NYC By Foot will be offering two free walking tours daily: one tour covers Midtown Manhattan, while the other explores Lower Manhattan. NYC By Foot is a group of young (and young at heart), fun loving guides who have come together for a common cause: To teach history and entertain guests with creative tours of NYC.  They offer free tours for one very important reason, so that everyone can enjoy a fun, creative and educational walking tour experience at a really great price: FREE.  They work exclusively for gratuities, which means, if you don’t like the tour, all you have lost was your time and they guarantee your satisfaction.  Their tours are popular with families and visitors on a budget in D.C. and the company expects to be popular with similar travelers in New York City.

Each tour lasts just under two hours, and no reservations are required. The tour groups can be fairly large (company policy caps individual groups at 35-45 participants), but no one is turned away because there are back-up guides who can run a second tour if the group is too large for a single guide. Although there is no charge for the tour, tour guides need to pay rent too, so plan to tip the tour guide if you enjoy the tour.
